Zhiping Zhou received both B.S. and M.S. degrees from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, in 1982 and 1984, respectively, and the Ph.D. (EE) degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, in 1993. He was a Founder and the Vice President of Production at Hengnan Transistor Factory in China (1971-1978) and a guest scientist of National Institute of Standards and Technology in USA (1987-1989) before receiving his Ph.D. degree.
Dr. Zhou Joined Georgia Institute of Technology in 1993, where he is now a Senior Research Engineer at Microelectronics Research Center (MiRC) and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). He is also a Visiting Professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, since 1996 and a Technical Advisor to the Optical Memory National Engineering Research Center, Beijing, China, from 1999 to 2002.
His research interests include semiconductor device physics; CMOS processing; nanotechnology; nanofabrication; semiconductor sensors; integrated sensors; semiconductor lasers; ultra-fast optical communications; integrated optoelectronics; MOEMS; MEMS; vector rigorous diffraction analysis of sub-wavelength features; and integration of photonic and electronic devices, particularly in the nanometer scales.
Dr. Zhou is a member of SPIE and OSA, a senior member of IEEE, and a life member of the Photonics Society of Chinese-Americans (PSC).
